Five people were injured, including three University of Iowa students, in an overnight shooting near the University of Iowa campus, Iowa City police and university officials said Sunday.

First responders arrived by 2:03 a.m., and university emergency officials confirmed there were victims. At 2:31 a.m., police said they were continuing to investigate and again asked people to avoid the area and remain aware of their surroundings.

At 3:36 a.m., an update said, “ICPD continues to investigate. Remain vigilant. Report any info or suspicious activity to law enforcement 319-358-TIPS.”

Iowa City police said “multiple victims have been taken to area hospitals to be treated for wounds suffered in the shooting.” In an update Sunday morning, police said one person was in critical condition and four others were in stable condition. No arrests had been made.

Police also released information about five people of interest and asked for the public’s help identifying them.

Videos posted to social media showed a fight in the street before shots were fired.
