Hillary Clinton Testifies on Epstein, Photo Interrupts Session

Summary

Hillary Clinton testified on Epstein, a leaked photo paused the closed session.

Why this matters

The testimony is part of an inquiry into Jeffrey Epstein's activities, highlighting bipartisan tensions and raising questions about transparency and compliance within formal investigations.

Hillary Clinton testified for about six hours before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday as part of the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. She stated she has no new information about Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell, doesn’t recall meeting him, and never visited his properties.

The deposition, conducted behind closed doors, followed the committee’s decision to hold the Clintons in contempt for subpoenas noncompliance. While Republicans view the testimony as crucial to understanding Epstein’s network, Democrats call for President Donald Trump to testify as well. Questions were posed about Howard Lutnick, related to his past visits to Epstein’s island.

The proceedings paused unexpectedly after conservative influencer Benny Johnson shared a leaked photo of Clinton inside the deposition. Johnson said the photo came from Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), a committee member present during the deposition. Clinton’s staff called for transparency by requesting a public hearing, though the photo breach violated committee rules. In response, Democratic committee members demanded the full, unedited transcript and video of the deposition be released within 24 hours.

Bill Clinton is scheduled to testify on Friday.
