Three people were injured Friday afternoon in a shooting in Plymouth, North Carolina, according to the Plymouth Police Department.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire and a disturbance involving multiple individuals in the 500 block of East Main Street around 3:23 p.m. on Jan. 2. When officers arrived, they observed a large crowd leaving the area and heard additional gunshots.
Police found a 19-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his right leg in the driveway of a residence on East Main Street. A 51-year-old woman was located in the front yard with a gunshot wound to her left arm. A third victim, a 26-year-old woman, was found inside the residence with a gunshot wound to the right side of her neck.
Washington County Emergency Medical Services took all three victims to Washington Regional Medical Center. They were later airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville for further treatment. Police said the two women have been treated and released. The man remains hospitalized in stable condition.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting local authorities with the investigation, which is ongoing.
