Honolulu police are investigating two unrelated attempted murder cases that occurred Saturday night in the Kalihi area.
The first incident took place shortly before 10 p.m. when District 5 patrol officers responded to a shooting at a residence on Hanai Loop. A 24-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital.
The suspect fled the area and was described as wearing all black clothing, a black face mask, and athletic shoes. No arrests have been made. The investigation is ongoing.

The second case occurred around 10:40 p.m., when officers witnessed gunfire coming from a moving vehicle in the Kalihi Valley Homes area. District 5’s Crime Reduction Unit stopped the vehicle at Mayor Wright Homes and detained two 21-year-old men.
A 14-year-old boy sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital.
Police arrested the two men on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder and first-degree reckless endangering. One of the suspects, a passenger, was also arrested for place to keep. Charges are pending review by the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
Both suspects remained in custody. It is not yet known whether the two cases were connected.
