The U.S. government approved a $151.8 million sale of munitions and support services to Israel, the Department of State announced on Friday. The package includes 12,000 BLU-110A/B, 1,000-pound bomb bodies, capable of penetrating hardened facilities.
The sale also includes engineering, logistics, and technical support from both the U.S. government and private contractors. Repkon USA in Garland, Texas, has been identified as the principal contractor, with some munitions coming from current U.S. military stockpiles.
The Department of State justified bypassing the congressional review process, stating that an emergency necessitated the immediate approval of the sale to promote the national security interests of the U.S.
