White House Launches TikTok Account for U.S. Cabinet

Summary

The Trump administration launched a White House-managed TikTok account featuring Cabinet members, expanding its social media outreach.

Why this matters

The move reflects the administration's growing use of social media platforms like TikTok to communicate with the public amid ongoing scrutiny of the app's ties to China.

The White House has launched a new TikTok account featuring members of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet, expanding its presence on the platform.

In a post Thursday on social platform X, the White House announced, “NEW ON TIKTOK: The great U. S. Cabinet!” Breitbart first reported on the account.

The initial video includes clips of Cabinet officials such as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and President Trump. The video is set to background music and was posted midday Thursday.

The account’s biography states it is “Managed by [the] White House.”

This marks the second TikTok account launched by the Trump administration. The administration first introduced a White House TikTok account in August.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in October that a deal had been finalized with Chinese authorities allowing TikTok to continue operating in the U.S. despite ongoing scrutiny over the platform’s Chinese ownership.

“In Kuala Lumpur, we finalized the TikTok agreement in terms of getting Chinese approval,” Bessent said on Fox Business Network. “And I would expect that would go forward in the coming weeks and months, and we’ll finally see a resolution to that.”
