Beulaville man faces felony charges in Jacksonville

Summary

A Beulaville man was jailed without bond after authorities said he entered a Jacksonville home with a knife and threatened two people.

Why this matters

The case shows the charges and court status in a violent home-entry investigation in Onslow County. It also highlights an allegation that a domestic violence protective order was violated.

A Beulaville man was charged after investigators said he entered a Jacksonville home with a knife and threatened two people inside.

Onslow County court records showed that Joseph Michael Ray, 41, was arrested June 4 in connection with an incident that investigators said happened May 29.

Authorities said Ray entered an occupied home on Shamrock Drive and assaulted two people with a kitchen knife. He was charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.

Court documents also said Ray violated a domestic violence protective order by entering the home and standing over a sleeping occupant while holding the knife.

In addition to the felony charges, Ray also faced charges of violating a domestic violence protective order and misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

The charges resulted from an Onslow County Sheriff’s Office investigation. Arrest warrants were issued June 1 and served June 4.
