Kevin Warsh sworn in as Federal Reserve chair

Summary

Kevin Warsh was sworn in as Federal Reserve chair, with Trump urging him to act independently.

Why this matters

The Federal Reserve plays a central role in U.S. monetary policy and financial markets. Its chair influences interest rates, inflation policy, and the broader economy.

Kevin Warsh was sworn in as chair of the Federal Reserve.

In remarks announcing Warsh’s leadership, President Donald Trump said Warsh became the youngest Federal Reserve governor at age 35 and has been a fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution for the past 15 years.

“I want Kevin to be totally independent. I want him to be independent and just do a great job. Don’t look at me, don’t look at anybody, just do your own thing and do a great job,” Trump said.
